A yoga practice encourages you to take inventory of your body as you practice. The more awareness you have of how your body feels from day to day the more likely you are to notice tight or injury-prone areas of the body that need attention before full blown injuries occur.
Yoga offers a combination of active and passive stretching that is especially helpful for keeping you injury free.
Training to get stronger or faster can lead to tight muscles with a smaller range of motion, limited power, and a tendency to get injured more easily.
Active stretching where the body is moving and stretching dynamically (such as the Sun Salutation sequence) creates warmth and suppleness in the tissues. Passive stretching , where you hold a posture for a minute or more in a way that's relaxed allows muscles to lengthen even more. Yoga can realign the body to reduce chance of injury, boost performance due to improving stability (particularly in the core) of the body, improving range of motion of the muscles, increasing the force and power generated through these muscles.
The result is more elastic, pliable tissues that help you bounce back more easily from the stressors in your sport.
Yoga also works on the mind (through attention to the breath and thoughts). It creates a mental toughness, harnessing random negative thoughts through visualisation. It helps improve breathing efficiency through awareness of expanding the rib cage to utilise more lung capacity.
So many benefits it's no wonder top sports people and teams have been turning to Yoga to help them improve their performance and extend their sporting life.

Sports such as running, cycling, rugby, football, golf and tennis, tend to cause an imbalance in the body due to the asymmetric nature of the activity. This leads to injury and/or chronic over-use of certain muscles at the expense of others. The imbalance leads to pain/injury and loss of performance.
Individual or small group sessions available at £30 per session (this can be combined with massage.)
Block bookings of 4 sessions are £100.
Alternatively sessions can be run at clubs to suit teams/squads.
